Stone integrates Internal Family System to help individuals access deeper levels of their consciousness to understand their conflicting/ambivalent thoughts, feelings, and behaviours.

He also specializes in couple therapy using the Emotionally Focused Therapy approach. EFT is one of the best approach for couple communication and intimate connection. He helps couples explore their deeper, more vulnerable feelings, and learn how to share them and validate each other's deeper feelings. EFT also has a highly effective apporach to repair attachment injury like affair, betrayal, and other trust issues. He also draws tools and exercises from the highly practical Gottman approach. Additionally Stone has been trained in Sex Therapy to help couples with sex issues.

Personal background

I started out my career in Engineering. Struggling to find meaning in it, I was burnt out and unsatisfied while dealing with difficult Asian parents who argue 8 days a week and expect you to be a doctor.

That’s when I switched to Psychology, and I had 3 motivations: to help with my parents’ struggles, to figure out my self, and to build a healthy relationship.

The results? I learned to radically accept my parents on the first one (aka “letting go”), but I did accomplish the other two. Through my own ongoing inner work, I’ve learned to love myself, face my difficult emotions, and find profound meaning in this life.

Part of my healing is due to my profound, emotional experiences with psilocybin mushrooms, and I continue to use psychedelics as a tool for self-improvement.

I love reading! I consume about 40 books a year to expand my knowledge. I also enjoy badminton, swimming, and playing Switch with a beer.

I grew up in Shanghai, China and immigrated with my family when I was 17. I now live in Hamilton with my wife and our baby boy.
